From the 1903 book, 100 Years of Brewing, page 239.
The Buckeye Brewing Company is one of the oldest in Toledo, dating back to the forties [1840's]. It has passed through many changes in proprietorship. Lehman & Eckhardt Brothers, who operated it for a time prior to 1877, disposed of it in that year to Jacobi, Coghlin & Company, who operated it until 1886, when the present name was adopted. Lager beer has been the sole product for a great many years and bottling was commenced in 1894.
